Welcome to Heuglins Guest Lodge
Whether for an onward destination, a holiday, a school event or a work trip, Heuglins Lodge, established in 2002, is a timeless icon for quality self-catering accommodation in the Lowveld. Situated on the secure Sheffield Estate, just 5 km from White River town in Mpumamlanga, we offer you so much more than a bed for the night.
A morning or evening stroll on the estate offers bird watching, fishing, sundowners at the dam teeming with egrets and ducks, all enabled by your personable hosts, Brian and Frances.
Heuglins Lodge is nestled in an oasis of a garden just outside of White River – we have a large wooded forested garden with large old trees and all sorts of birds visiting our garden and surrounds. We’re also on an estate with 3 dams which are a haven for various ducks and waterbirds. In addition, we adjoin large tracts of farmland with natural thicket and forests in-between with well-marked trails taking runners, mountain bikers and walkers/birders into the ravines and valleys. Heuglins Lodge is the perfect setting and location for birders.
Discover the magic of birdwatching in the Lowveld. The breath-taking Mpumalanga province is famous for the Kruger Park, it’s big 5 and amazing birdlife. Heuglins is delighted to offer bird-lovers, a bird-watching weekend with a certified bird guide.
With love from our guests...
Brian and Frances are exceptional, friendly hosts. We will not forget their laughter and friendly manner. The cottages are neat and tidy. The lodge is nestled in bushes and trees within a well fenced estate. We enjoyed having breakfast outside accompanied by the calls of the various birds. Heuglins is a good gateway to the Kruger National Park as well as the Panorama Route, Blyde Canyon etc. The lodge is within easy reach of Johannesburg and the Oliver Tambo airport.
